Cartier Ronde 1970 PARIS dial Cal.838

Vintage Cartier watches have become increasingly popular in recent years. In particular, models from before the 1970s fitted with movements by Jaeger-LeCoultre, EWC, and others have become highly sought after by collectors, with prices continuing to rise.
This is a very rare 1970s Cartier Ronde model equipped with a Jaeger-LeCoultre movement.

This is an exceptionally rare configuration, distinguished from a standard Ronde by its “floating Roman” dial and the frosted finish on the sides of the case.

The dial is silver, with beautifully blued hands. “PARIS” is printed at 6 o’clock, confirming that it is original.
The case has a conventional round shape, but the sides feature a somewhat pronounced frosted finish.
This was a design often seen on Piaget watches from this era.

The movement is Jaeger-LeCoultre Cal. 838. Its use of a slim movement makes this a notably thin watch.

This is a rare Ronde model that symbolizes Cartier’s history. It offers a distinctive appeal different from that of the Tank.

The service respects the watch’s originality, restoring it as much as possible without replacing the dial, movement, or other original components.
The dial and other components are already in very good condition, but Cartier is expected to restore them to its exacting standards, so sending it in may be worthwhile if desired.

It is fitted with an era-correct, genuine Cartier 18k yellow-gold Deployant Buckle. (This is the type made before the 1970s.)
