Cartier 1960 9P Piaget

The Tank is indispensable when discussing Cartier. In recent years, models from before the 1970s equipped with movements by Jaeger-LeCoultre, EWC, and others have become increasingly popular among collectors, with prices continuing to rise. This piece dates from the late 1960s and is an exceptionally rare collaboration with Piaget. The movement and case were made by Piaget, while the dial, hands, and crown follow Cartier specifications. The movement is Piaget’s ultra-thin 9P, marked Cartier. The dial is a special Guilloché Dial, the hands are blued leaf hands, and the crown is an octagonal sapphire-set design—every detail was carefully considered. During this Era, Piaget also produced rectangular Tank-style models, and this piece is believed to have been based on one of them. (The case is also engraved “Piaget.”) Its authenticity has been confirmed through an official Cartier repair estimate, so there is no doubt that it is genuine. We will also include the repair estimate. As a rare Piaget model symbolizing Cartier’s history, it is an especially fascinating piece. The dial is marked “Cartier” and “Swiss” and is of the Guilloché type. Since it was originally marked “Swiss,” it has not been replaced and remains original. The movement is Piaget Cal. 9P. Models equipped with Cal. 9P2 began appearing after 1980, but this is the original version, an exceptionally thin movement measuring just 2 mm.
