The Must Tank was the model released for a broader audience, following the historically enduringly popular “Tank Louis.” This rare early Must Tank is known as a Pre-Must Tank, and this particular example is an even rarer European-market Pre-Must Tank, produced in very limited numbers. The European version is essentially constructed almost identically to the Tank Louis. The main differences are that the case is vermeil rather than 18-karat gold, and the dial uses script lettering instead of block lettering. As a result, its construction does not immediately reveal it as a Louis, which contributes to its popularity; however, examples are extremely rare. With Louis models currently commanding increasingly high prices, this is a highly recommended piece.
