The Santos is indispensable when discussing Cartier. As the historic model recognized as the world’s first men’s wristwatch developed by Cartier, it remains enduringly popular.
This is the Ref. 78097 Santos-Dumont LM, introduced in the 1970s as part of the “Louis Cartier Collection.”
Production numbers were limited even within the Louis Cartier Collection, making well-preserved examples particularly rare.
This is a rare period PARIS Dial.
Among the Santos-Dumont models, the slim “Extra-Flat” is popular, but this thicker Santos-Dumont LM has a different character. Its dimensional construction makes it a sought-after piece among collectors.
Few examples remain, and it is highly valued for its rarity overseas as well.
Unlike the Extra-Flat, this piece conveys the distinctive strength of the Santos.

Condition and Warranty
The case has some scratches and signs of wear, but no major dents. There is no excessive rounding from polishing, and the distinctive Santos edges remain crisp. The watch appears to have survived with minimal polishing.
The crystal and hands have almost no scratches. The caseback is also free of scratches and dents. The Serial Number remains clearly visible.
The dial is a rare PARIS Dial.
There are fine cracks across the dial, but they are difficult to see unless viewed closely from different angles and under the right lighting.
There is no discoloration, and the white dial remains beautiful.
Overall, this is a piece in exceptionally good condition.
The original Cartier GP Buckle is fitted.
