One of the rarest models among vintage Cartier watches, the Step Tank New York model is known only to true enthusiasts.
This is Ref. 15716, a model sold in New York. As the least-produced version, it is an exceptionally rare example.
The Step Tank was produced in limited numbers around 1970 (approximately between 1973 and 1976) in three cities: New York, Paris, and London.
There are subtle design differences between the regional versions.
The NYC model differs notably in the shape of the caseback, the presence or absence of screws, and the interior case construction, making it the most finely executed version.
Only around 2,000 are believed to have been produced, making this an exceptionally scarce model.
The dial is also the highly sought-after Black Dial.

Condition and Warranty
This watch is priced relatively attractively because the dial has fine cracks and the crystal has a small chip.Overall, the condition appears to be excellent.
The case has only minor scratches, with no dents or similar damage. Much of the original plating remains intact. Although there are areas where the plating has become thin or worn away, we have not replated the case out of respect for its original condition.
The caseback has only minor scratches, and the Serial Number remains clearly visible. It is in relatively clean condition.
The dial is beautiful overall, though it has several fine cracks.
They are visible depending on the lighting, but difficult to notice without direct light. (We can also send you a video, so please contact us if you are interested.)
The crystal has some minor scratches but is clean overall. There is a small chip near the 6 o'clock position, but it is limited to the surface and does not affect functionality. Since it is the original crystal, we have left it unchanged.
The Buckle is a period-correct genuine Cartier GP buckle.
The Strap is aftermarket.
