Cartier Stepped Tank Ref. 15716 NYC Model

Among vintage Cartiers, the Stepped Tank New York model is a rare piece known only to a select few.

This is Ref. 15716, a model sold in New York, and it is the rarest and most uncommon individual, as the fewest were manufactured.
The Stepped Tank was produced in small quantities in three countries—New York, Paris, and London—around 1970 (roughly between 1973 and 1976).
There are subtle design differences depending on the region.
The NYC model has quite a few differences, such as the shape of the case back, the presence or absence of screws, and the shape of the inside of the case, making it the most elaborately crafted model.
It is said that an extremely small number, around 2000 units, were manufactured.
The dial is also a popular black dial.
This item is offered at a relatively low price due to faint cracks on the dial and a slight chip on the glass.

The overall condition appears to be very good.
The case also has only minor scratches and no dents. The plating remains in its original condition and is well preserved. Although some parts of the plating are thin or have come off, we have not re-plated it to respect its original condition.
The case back also has only minor scratches, and the serial number is clearly visible, making it relatively clean.

The dial is clean, but there are several faint cracks throughout.
They are visible depending on the lighting, but difficult to see without direct light. (We can send videos, so please contact us if you are interested.)
The glass also has minor scratches but is generally clean. There is a slight chip at the 6 o'clock position, but it is only on the surface, so there are no functional issues, and since it is the original glass, we have not replaced it.

The buckle is the original Cartier GP from that period.
The strap is aftermarket.
