Patek Philippe Calatrava/C Ref. 3579 with Archive

We will notify you by email when this watch, the same model, or a related model becomes available.

Archive acquired in November 2023 Founded in 1839, Patek Philippe is one of the world’s foremost manufactures. The Calatrava represents the pinnacle of dress watches and remains a rare icon of the brand, continuing to reign as a classic and aspirational timepiece. This Ref. 3579 is a highly unusual and well-known collector’s model, featuring a rare stainless steel case, a screw-down caseback, and a C-line case shape. While standard Calatrava models feature solid-gold cases, the Ref. 3579 series was made entirely in stainless steel for only approximately five years, from 1969 to 1974, making it exceptionally rare. The Buckle would originally have been stainless steel, but as we did not have one in stock, we have fitted a genuine current-production white-gold Buckle.

The construction is exceptionally dimensional, with highly delicate transitions between the polished and brushed surfaces of the flat bezel and C-line case. The edge angles and smoothness vary subtly from one section to another, demonstrating a level of refinement that can only be described as unmistakably Patek. Blue-dial examples of this type have risen significantly in price. Silver-dial examples remain relatively accessible, making this an excellent opportunity to acquire one while prices are still favorable. ## Condition and Warranty One of the watch’s most notable features is its excellent condition. Vintage components prone to deterioration, such as the dial and hands, have miraculously remained almost completely unaffected. The case has some light scratches, but is otherwise in very good overall condition, with few major dents or scratches. There is virtually no sunken appearance or rounding of the case shape, and the edges remain exceptionally clean. The watch had already received an extremely fine finish when we acquired it, so that finish has been retained without further polishing. (The finishing is exceptionally beautiful.) The dial, hands, and crystal are all clean, with almost no dirt or scratches. Serviced by our store.
