Universal Geneve Skeleton Black Dial
Universal Genève, famous for developing micro-rotors and other innovations, produced this 18K solid gold double-sided skeleton hand-wound watch as a limited edition in the 1980s.
While this brand may not be widely known in Japan, vintage Universal Genève watches are very popular overseas, with special models such as the famous Tri-Compax trading for millions of yen.
This particular model was a custom order placed by The Franklin Mint with Universal Genève.
Both the front and back are skeletonized, allowing a view of the renowned in-house Cal.2-42 movement.
The engraving is beautiful, and the indexes are easy to read, resolving the poor legibility often associated with skeleton watches. Notably, its thinness and lightness make it very comfortable to wear.
Both the glass and case have few scratches, and the internal skeletonized movement is also quite clean with minimal dirt.
The band and buckle are aftermarket.
