The Must de Cartier Tank was released for the general market based on the historically and still popular “Tank Louis.”
This rare early Must de Cartier Tank is known as a Pre-Must Tank; this particular example is an even rarer European-market Pre-Must Tank produced in very limited numbers.
Its early cannonball crown gives it an exceptional vintage character.
The European version has a basic construction almost identical to the Tank Louis. The major differences are that the case is vermeil rather than 18-karat gold, and the dial uses cursive lettering instead of block lettering.
As a result, it does not immediately appear to be a Louis, which contributes to its popularity; however, examples are extremely rare.
With Louis models currently rising in price, this is a recommended alternative.
It is fitted with a genuine GP Buckle.

Condition and Warranty
This exceptional example retains its original case plating from the period, while the dial is crack-free and remarkably clean, preserving a high degree of originality.
It is in excellent condition, and examples this clean rarely come to market.
There are signs of use, but the case has relatively few dents, and the original plating remains well preserved.
Because we wanted to retain the period plating, the watch has not been heavily polished. There are scratches throughout, but the overall condition is good. (The scratches have been left as they are. They could be reduced to some extent through polishing, but we do not recommend it because it would thin the plating; removal is possible if desired.)
The case back has some minor scratches, but the plating remains intact and the Serial Number is still present. Overall, it is in good condition.
Both the hands and crystal are clean, and for a Pre-Must, it is in exceptionally good condition.
The dial is essentially crack-free and has no scratches. Some small areas of dirt can be seen, but none are conspicuous. Discoloration is also minimal.
There are some additional areas of dirt, but overall, the condition is considered very good.
