The Early Model Polerouter by Universal Genève, renowned for developing the micro-rotor and other innovations.
Universal Genève’s famous Polerouter is characterized by its micro-rotor, but this is an Early Model equipped with a bumper-style Automatic movement, caliber 138SS.
Models with this movement appear to have been produced for only about one year from 1954, giving this watch considerable historical value.
The original model name, Polarouter, soon changed to Polerouter, and the movement was later replaced by caliber 215. Since this watch is a Polerouter with caliber 138SS, it represents a transitional period in the model’s history.
Despite being one of the earliest models, the case shows very little wear, and the clean dial makes this a particularly rare piece.
The bumper-style half-rotor is more primitive in construction than a micro-rotor, but its distinctive spring tension and operating feel offer a warmth rarely found today.
It is also an important piece in watchmaking history, as it helped bring Gerald Genta’s name to prominence.

Condition and Warranty
The case and bracelet have light scratches but no significant dents.The watch is essentially unpolished, and the case is remarkably clean considering its Era.
The plating remains in remarkably solid condition.
The caseback has some light scratches but is clean overall. The Serial Number has faded slightly but remains clearly present.
The dial and hands have some light scratches and dirt, but are remarkably clean considering their Era.
The original crystal has virtually no scratches or cracks. The crown is also original.
Considering that the watch is approximately 70 years old, it is in remarkably good overall condition.
