Cartier Stepped Tank Boys Size Ref. 25716 NYCModel

A little-known, rare Step Tank model among vintage Cartier watches. This is Ref.25716, a model sold in New York. With the lowest production numbers, it is an especially rare example. Its 27.5 mm face makes it an ideally sized boys’ model. The Step Tank was produced in very limited numbers around 1970—approximately between 1973 and 1976—in New York, Paris, and London. There are subtle design differences between each region. The NYC model differs considerably in the shape of the case back, the presence or absence of screws, and the interior case construction, making it the most finely crafted version. Only an extremely limited number were produced—reportedly around 2,000 pieces. The dial is also the highly sought-after White Dial, making this an exceptionally rare example. Examples in this condition have become difficult to find in recent years. This square model has well-balanced proportions and should be comfortable to wear. NYC models have risen sharply in value in recent years. In particular, the White Dial and excellent condition make this an especially rare piece. The dial has some light cracking and dirt, but is in relatively beautiful condition. There is very little significant cracking. The crystal has some minor scratches and signs of wear, but it is original and has therefore been left as is. It remains in relatively beautiful condition.
