BOVET Fleurier HANNYA PG Ref. D810.0

The piece we are pleased to present is the HANNYA by BOVET, a prestigious haute horlogerie manufacture. Its original retail price was approximately ¥5 million. The dial features a Hannya mask rendered using the traditional Kaga maki-e technique. Although it is difficult to appreciate in photographs, a close look with the naked eye reveals finely reproduced colors and details, creating a beautiful three-dimensional effect. The Hannya mask may appear somewhat frightening, but it also represents the Buddhist concept of wisdom that grasps the truth, as well as the attainment of enlightenment described in the Heart Sutra. It conveys a profound sense of the owner's intellect. This is a rare collaboration between Switzerland and Japan, with the Hannya motif applied by an artisan using Kaga maki-e, a traditional technique from Ishikawa Prefecture. BOVET sold only a very small number of these exceptionally rare models exclusively through a certain Japanese boutique in the late 2000s. BOVET may not be widely known in Japan, but it is a globally recognized ultra-luxury brand. The brand is known as a manufacture that limits annual production to 800 pieces, approximately one-third of which are made to order. Its regular collection ranges from around ¥3 million to ¥60 million, while made-to-order pieces can reach virtually limitless prices. This is the BOVET Fleurier HANNYA, produced by BOVET around 2006–2010. The movement is a manufacture calibre developed and produced entirely in-house by BOVET. It is a core collection featuring numerous distinctive elements, including a case reminiscent of a pocket watch and a dial decorated with guilloché and finished in vivid lacquer. The Strap is genuine BOVET. It shows some signs of use but remains in beautiful condition.
