OMEGA Seamaster 300 3rd early model ref. 165.024
Up for sale is a rare OMEGA Seamaster 300 3rd-generation early model, ref 165.024, with its original "caterpillar" bracelet.
Among Omega's dive models, the "Seamaster 300 / 3rd model" is particularly popular. This is the Seamaster 300 Ref.ST165.024, released in 1962.
From the 3rd model onwards, an asymmetrical case was adopted, featuring a crown guard often referred to as the "Ancient Greek lyre," which enhanced its practicality.
Early models did not feature a screw-down crown, used baton hands, and had a smaller trapezoidal design at the 12 o'clock position on the dial.
The early models, in particular, are highly rare.
The dial shows some discoloration, but the dial condition is good, with a matte black dial that has developed a distinctive, tasteful patina.
The case has some minor signs of use such as scratches, but no dents, and the edges are still crisp, indicating good condition.
The bezel is free of cracks, and the markings remain. The operation is smooth with a satisfying click.
The case back retains its engravings and is in good condition. The watch is fitted with a rare original Omega "caterpillar" bracelet from that era. (One link on the 12 o'clock side has an extension return that is stuck, but the rest are in good condition.)
The bracelet has scratches and light dents, but minimal sag.
The dial, hands, crystal, etc., show no noticeable scratches or scuffs.
Considering the bezel, case, and bracelet are unpolished, they are in clean condition with only minor scratches.
The case has very sharp edges, so it is almost certainly unpolished.
Including the crystal, all parts are original to the period, and the watch appears to be in overall good condition.
