The Calatrava, symbolizing the brand and the pinnacle of dress watches, remains a rare and aspirational classic.
This Ref. 3579 is a very rare Calatrava model featuring a stainless steel case, a screw-back, and a C-line shape, making it a well-known piece among collectors.
While regular Calatravas typically have solid gold cases, all Ref. 3579 series watches are made of stainless steel and were produced for only about five years, from 1969 to 1974, making them quite rare.
Its highly three-dimensional construction, with delicate transitions between polished and hairline finishes on the flat bezel and C-line, combined with varying edge angles and smoothness in different parts, showcases Patek Philippe's exceptional craftsmanship.
Blue dials of this type have significantly increased in value. Silver dials are still more affordably priced, so it might be a good idea to acquire one now.
A noteworthy aspect of this watch is its excellent condition. The dial and hands, components that typically deteriorate in vintage watches, have miraculously suffered almost no degradation.
The case has minor scratches but is in very good overall condition with few major dents or scratches.
There is almost no thinning of the case or rounding of its shape. The edges are also very clean. The watch had a very clean finish when acquired, and the polishing remains consistent with that original finish. (The finish is exceptionally beautiful).
The dial, hands, and crystal are all clean, with almost no dirt or scratches.
The buckle should originally be stainless steel, but as we did not have it in stock, we have fitted a genuine WG buckle of the current type.
