Its value has continued to rise in recent years, with the rarity of the LM hand-wound models, especially those from around 1970, increasing.
The Ref. 78086 introduced here is an early type, manufactured in the early 1000s serial number range.
The difference from later models is not only the absence of a hidden signature, but also the gold hands.
Although a subtle difference, it is a very rare piece.
Unlike the mid and late models, the hands are not blued, which adds to its rarity.
Furthermore, the dial is pristine with no cracks, making it highly recommended for those who appreciate rare Louis Cartier pieces.
Among the 1970s Louis Cartier collection, this is an LM hand-wound model with few examples in good condition.
The men's size LM, hand-wound movement, original PARIS dial from that era, and its early production date all contribute to its high value.
The case is in good condition, with minor scratches but generally few large dents or deep scratches.
There is no thinning of the case or rounding of its shape.
The case back has light scratches and small dents, but no major scratches overall.
Both are essentially in unpolished condition.
The crystal is original and in clean condition with no noticeable scratches.
The dial is clean and crack-free. Most PARIS dials have some cracks, but miraculously, this one has none.
The dial has slight discoloration and very minor scratches, but appears to be in very clean condition.
The hands are not blued, but are the original black hands.
Overall, this is a very well-preserved item.
The buckle is a genuine 18k buckle.
