This is an introduction to the early Tonda 40mm in white gold from the high-end manufacture brand, Parmigiani Fleurier.
Parmigiani is known for its Tonda and Kalpa collections, but this is an early Kalpa 40mm model from when the brand was first established and at its most elaborately crafted.
Recently, early Parmigiani Kalpa models have garnered attention. While current Kalpa models exist, their craftsmanship doesn't quite match the early iterations, making the early models overwhelmingly more popular.
At 40mm, this model is a bit on the larger side, but its size is comparable to modern watches.
With a limited production and circulation, this is a rare model.
Furthermore, it features a rare D-buckle type clasp, which is hardly ever seen in circulation, making it exceptionally scarce.
The beautiful case and lug craftsmanship, characteristic of Parmigiani, were arguably at their peak during this period.
While the WG case has minor scratches, there are no dents or major scratches, and it is in very clean condition.
The rhodium plating is also well-preserved.
Both the front and back glass are clean, with virtually no scratches.
Despite some minor dirt, the dial and hands are in remarkably clean condition.
The clasp is also a genuine Parmigiani 18k WG D-buckle type.
The band is an original crocodile strap with some signs of use.
The clasp also has some minor scuffs but is very clean.
This model also features a special design where it's threaded through the buckle hole and secured with a screw, making adjustments challenging but ensuring a secure fit. It's an unusual design.
