The Must de Cartier Tank, a model released to the general public, was based on the historically popular Tank Louis Cartier.
The rare early Must de Cartier Tank is referred to as the Pre-Must de Cartier Tank, and the one here is a European market Pre-Must de Cartier Tank, which was produced in even smaller quantities.
With its early "boule" crown, it has an exceptional vintage feel.
The European specification is fundamentally almost identical to the Tank Louis Cartier in its construction. The main differences are that the case is vermeil instead of 18k gold, and the dial's lettering is in cursive rather than block letters.
For this reason, it is popular because at first glance it doesn't look like a Louis Cartier, but it is a very rare item.
With the high prices of Louis Cartier currently, this is a highly recommended piece.
This item boasts high originality from its era, with its original plating still on the case and a very clean, no-crack dial.
Although it is a very good condition item with no cracks, we are offering it at a lower price due to some scratches and dents on parts of the case.
Regarding its condition, there are signs of use, but minimal dents on the case, and despite some signs of use, the original plating remains largely intact. To preserve the original plating, we have not polished it extensively. There are scratches overall, but I believe the condition is good. (There are scratches overall, but we have left them as they are. They can be largely removed with polishing, but we don't recommend it as it thins the plating, although it is possible to remove them.) There are some dents, but the overall condition is good. The case back also has small scratches, but the plating remains solid, and the serial number is intact. There are also dents and some hairline scratches on the case back, but to maintain its originality, it has not been re-plated. (The plating remains.) Both the hands and crystal are clean, and for a Pre-Must, it is in remarkably good condition. The hands are blue, just like the Louis Cartier.
The dial is essentially free of cracks and scratches. Some light smudges are visible in places, but they are not at a noticeable level. Discoloration is also very minimal.
Aside from some other smudges, the overall condition is considered quite good.
It comes with a genuine GP buckle.
