Cartier Ronde LeCoultre Movement 1970s PARIS dial Cal.838
Vintage Cartier watches have been popular in recent years. In particular, models from before the 1970s with movements from LeCoultre or EWC have been sought after by collectors and have seen a continuous rise in price.
This is a very rare Ronde model from Cartier, made in the 1970s, equipped with a Jaeger-LeCoultre movement.
The dial features "exploding" Roman numerals, and the sides of the case have a textured, sandblasted finish, which sets it apart from ordinary Ronde models, making it a very rare specification.
The dial is silver, the hands are a beautiful blue, and "PARIS" is inscribed at the 6 o'clock position, indicating its originality.
The case construction is an orthodox round shape, but only the sides have a slightly more pronounced sandblasted finish.
This specification was often seen in Piaget watches of this era.
The movement is a LeCoultre Cal. 838. It is a very thin watch due to the use of a thin movement.
(We have obtained a repair estimate from Cartier and confirmed that it is a model eligible for restoration service.)
This is a rare Ronde model that symbolizes the history of Cartier. We believe it offers a different kind of appeal compared to the Tank models.
Regarding its condition, the case has minor scratches but no major dents.
The main serial number is clearly visible.
The case back has some scratches, but the condition is good considering its age.
To maintain its original condition, it has not been polished, and minor scratches have been left as they are.
The dial has some light dirt and stains, but it is relatively clean considering its age. There are no cracks.
The original crystal is very clean with only minor scratches. There are no scratches that impair visibility.
This model is eligible for restoration service by Cartier in its home country.
This service respects originality, allowing for restoration while maintaining the original dial, movement, etc., as much as possible.
While the dial and other components are already quite clean, Cartier's high standards would ensure a beautiful restoration, so it might be worthwhile to send it in if desired.
The buckle is a genuine Cartier 18k YG D-buckle from the same period (an earlier type than those from the 1970s).
The strap is a suede strap custom-made by our store.
