The Tank Louis Cartier is the quintessential Tank series watch. Its value has continued to rise in recent years, with the rare LM hand-wound models, especially those from around 1970, increasing in value. The model introduced here is an early production model of Ref. 78086, with a serial number in the 300s. The difference from later models is not only the absence of hidden lettering, but also slight differences in the font and the design of the dial's circle line. While these are minor differences, it is a very rare dial and individual piece. Unlike the mid- and late-period models, the hands are not blued, and the font is subdued, giving it a very classical impression. We highly recommend this watch to those who prefer a classical Louis. Among the 1970s Louis Cartier collection, LM hand-wound watches in good condition are scarce. The men's size LM, hand-wound movement, original PARIS dial from that era, and its early production all contribute to its high value. The condition is good with minor scratches, but overall there are few major dents or scratches. There is no sign of the case being thinned or the shape being rounded. The gold engraving on the side also remains. There is no Cartier engraving on the case back, but this is original for this particular model. There are no dents, but from a distance, it appears slightly warped, which is likely part of its specifications. The glass is also in clean condition with no noticeable scratches. The dial is clean with no cracks. Most PARIS dials have some cracks, but miraculously, this one has none at all. The dial has slight discoloration and very minor scratches, but it is considered to be in very clean condition. The hands are not blued but are originally black. Overall, this is a very good condition item. The buckle is a very rare early 18k buckle from the 1970s. If you wish to have an 18k YG D-buckle from that period, we can provide it at an additional cost.
