This time, we were able to acquire a very rare 1960s Tank Louis LM manual winding watch.
This model is an older version compared to the 1970s Tank Louis LM Ref. 78096, which we often sell, and dates back to the late 1960s.
The case has a similar feel to the 78096, but the crystal is a handmade glass wind shield with less curvature.
The dial also has slightly larger and thicker indexes, giving it a powerful presence. The hands are also a bit thicker, giving it a different impression.
Overall, it is closer to the image of early Cartier, possessing both great beauty and strength.
The movement is a Bueche-Girod ETA2512. (Bueche-Girod was a high-end Swiss watchmaker that Cartier temporarily commissioned to produce movements and cases. It is a Cartier W-name product. Items with the Bueche-Girod signature are scarce in circulation and extremely valuable.)
Although the dial says "SWISS," we speculate that it was originally a SWISS dial and not a replacement.
This watch has undergone Cartier's Swiss restoration service for maintenance, including authenticity appraisal. Essentially, only the movement has been repaired (overhauled).
Of course, no aftermarket parts have been used in the watch; it is a certified timepiece. All parts, including the crystal, are original.
Considering future maintenance, the ETA movement provides peace of mind, making this a highly recommended rare Tank Louis for daily use.
The case condition is excellent with few dents or scratches overall.
The case back also has very few scratches, and the engravings are not faded. It is very clean.
The crystal is also almost entirely free of scratches.
The dial and hands are in excellent condition.
The dial is very clean with no discoloration or stains. There is only a minor scratch at 5 o'clock, but overall it is very clean.
Although it is a SWISS dial, we believe it was originally SWISS.
This level of quality truly comes around once a year, so we strongly recommend it to anyone who is considering it.
It comes with a Cartier genuine 18k YG buckle.
