Cartier Tank Louis LM Rare 1960s LeCoultre Movement Cal. 818 Manual Winding No Cracks

SOLD OUT

The Tank Louis Cartier is the quintessential model of the Tank series.
Its value has been continuously rising in recent years, with the LM manual-winding models from around 1970 seeing a particular increase in rarity.

The model introduced here is from the 1960s and is equipped with a LeCoultre movement, Cal. 818/2.
Given that this particular piece has a dial without cracks and the case is also in good condition, it is likely a rare find that won't appear often in the future.

The difference from the Ref. 78086 of the 70s to 80s is, of course, the movement, but also the very beautiful and smooth luster of the dial, and the smaller Cartier lettering, which draws the eye to the Roman numerals. The overall impactful appearance of the dial is a significant difference.
These pieces have become very scarce, and it is now rare to find one in such good condition.

The condition of the case has minor scratches, but overall it has few major dents or scratches and is in good condition.
There is no thinning of the case or rounding of its shape. The gold hallmark on the side also remains. While there is no Cartier engraving on the case back, this particular model originally did not have one. The serial number is also clearly preserved.
It is basically unpolished. (If desired, minor scratches can be removed; please let us know.)
The glass also has some minor scratches but no major noticeable scratches, and is in clean condition.

The dial is clean with no cracks. Most PARIS dials usually have some cracks, but this one miraculously has none at all.
Although the dial has minor dirt and small scratches, it is believed to be in remarkably clean condition.
The hands are beautifully blued. There is almost no rust.
Overall, this is a piece in extremely good condition.

The buckle is a very rare 1960s D-buckle.
The strap is a custom-made crocodile leather strap from our store.
