Beauty transcends time. Expensive does not mean valuable.
Before we knew it, we started judging value by price.
Expensive means good.
Cheap means low value.
Of course, price is one criterion.
But can the value of things be determined by that alone?
I don't think so.
In the art world, some works that received little recognition during the artist's lifetime are appreciated decades later.
Conversely, some works that were highly regarded in their time fade from people's memories over the years.
Appreciation is something bestowed by the era.
Essence is the inherent value of something.
These two do not always coincide.
We judge things based on various assessments such as price, recognition, and popularity.
That in itself is not a bad thing.
However, if we rely solely on these criteria, we may overlook what is truly valuable.
This is not just about art.
I believe it's the same with encountering people and books.
There are many values around us that cannot be measured by numbers or evaluations.
That's why I want to cherish my own sensibility.
Sensibility is not just something we are born with.
I believe it is something that is gradually refined by experiencing many things, learning, and accumulating experience.
It is important to know how the world evaluates things.
However, even more important is how you yourself feel.
Ultimately, what you can rely on is your own accumulated experience and sensibility.
Beautiful things are always there, quietly, in every era.
Whether we can perceive them or not may depend on our own sensibility.
