Blancpain YG Manual Wind
We are pleased to introduce a vintage round Blancpain watch from the world’s oldest watch brand.
Blancpain is a prestigious manufacture brand said to be the world’s oldest among currently existing mechanical watchmakers.
It suspended operations in the 1970s due to the Quartz crisis, later making a comeback and regaining its current standing. This watch dates from the period before that hiatus.
Its design is exceptionally rare, and the brand itself is seldom seen in the vintage market.
Both the Strap and Buckle are aftermarket.
Based on the Serial Number, this model appears to date from the late 1950s to the early 1960s.
Blancpain is best known for the FIFTY FATHOMS and Villeret, but among vintage models, high-priced FIFTY FATHOMS watches dominate, while solid-gold dress watches are rarely seen.
The case has an unusual shape, with enamel decoration outlining the case. The inner surface has a mirror finish, while the outer surface has a brushed finish, creating an elaborate design.
The outer edges are also cleanly beveled, resulting in a beautiful design with a refined delicacy.
It is also impressive that the watch is equipped with an exceptionally thin movement.
