Origin Episode 6: Why I Chose to Convey My Message in Ginza
Ante started as a small shop in Toyama Prefecture, right in front of the sea.
It was a hidden gem of a watch shop, the kind you might stumble upon by chance during a journey.
A place where you could forget the time and slowly engage with a single watch.
We have continued to build our shop with such a space in mind.
Meeting many customers in that location and confronting each watch individually, my own perspective gradually changed.
The value of a vintage watch isn't just in the watch itself.
It's the technology born in that era.
The craftsmanship of artisans.
The historical background and culture.
And the value that has been passed down through generations.
I believe that a single vintage watch encompasses all of these things.
However, the opportunity to discuss this background is not often present.
There is value that cannot be conveyed by appearance or price alone.
For truly valuable watches, knowing their background changes how they are perceived and deepens one's attachment to them.
Simply selling watches cannot fully convey their value.
That's why I began to want to share their background and culture with more people.
This desire led me to choose Ginza as the location.
Ginza is a district where people from all over Japan and the world gather in search of authenticity.
It is also a place where shops with long histories line the streets, culture and technology are passed down, and intrinsic value continues to be appreciated.
I believe that in this district, the culture of vintage watches and the value behind them can be delivered to more people.
I don't aim to sell a large number of watches.
I want to deliver truly valuable watches to those who will truly cherish them.
And I want to be a shop that can convey the culture and background embedded in each piece.
To bring this vision to fruition, I chose Ginza.
