Truly beautiful things do not loudly proclaim their worth.
They quietly exist, and over long periods of time, continue to be chosen by people.
Architecture, furniture, art, crafts — all of them.
Authentic things share a mysterious common tranquility.
That is why, for a long time, I, too, did not speak much about myself.
My job was to select good items and deliver them to customers in good condition.
I believed that was enough.
However, times have changed a little.
We now live in an era where anyone can easily disseminate information.
On the other hand, there are many instances where information is not essential, or value is judged solely by appearance.
Sometimes, I feel that what is truly important is gradually getting buried.
In the past, I believed that authentic things would eventually be recognized, even if I remained silent.
But now, I no longer think so.
Because I've realized that if those who know what is authentic say nothing, then authenticity will not be conveyed.
That is why I decided to write this journal.
I don't want to convey that I am superior to anyone else.
Nor do I wish to deny anyone.
I simply want to quietly preserve the fact that beautiful things have beautiful reasons behind them.
Their background, their philosophy, and the values that have been passed down.
Authentic things don't need to be over-explained.
However, those who know what is authentic have a responsibility to speak.
From an era where silence was a virtue, to an era where there is a responsibility to convey what is right.
I will continue to quietly convey only what is necessary.
I believe this is the small role I can play in passing beautiful things on to the next generation.
